About Pescara

Pescara, located along the Adriatic coast of Italy, sits in a beautiful spot on the country’s eastern seaboard. The city combines natural beauty, rich culture, accessibility, and modern structures. Pescara boasts extensive sandy beaches along the Adriatic Sea and a rich cultural heritage with historical sites, museums and galleries. Visitors can explore the Modern Art Museum “Vittoria Colonna” that houses a collection including works by artists such as Picasso, Guttuso and Mirò, among the others. Pescara is the birthplace of famed italian poet Gabriele D’Annunzio who is celebrated with the national monument “Museo D’Annunzio” devoted to his life and poetics. Pescara is a tourist place that offers a wide range of modern facilities and several cicle routes that connect the city center with various neighborhoods and municipalities for a total of over 20 km. The Pescara seafront is a long tree-lined avenue that stretches for approximately 10 km along the Adriatic Sea. The promenade is adorned with a variety of charming Liberty-style villas. The D’Annunzio pine forest is the largest green place in the city with more that 50 hectares of protected area that contains a rich diversity of flora and fauna species characteristic of Mediterranean ecosystem.

How to get Pescara

By plane

Pescara is served by Abruzzo Airport (https://abruzzoairport.com), 5 km west of the city. Abruzzo Airport connects Pescara with Alghero, Barcellona Girona, Bergamo Orio al Serio, Bruxelles Charleroi, Bucarest Otopeni, Catania, Krakow, Dusseldorf Weeze, London Stansted, Luxembourg, Malta, Memmingen, Milan Linate, Prague, Tirana, Turin, Trapani and Warsaw. Low-cost flights are available to and from many European destinations. A direct bus service connects Abruzzo Airport to Pescara Central station (coaches’ number 8 and 38, one every 20 minutes, by TUA bus company). The journey time is 10 minutes. Pescara city center is connected to Fiumicino Airport Terminal 3 of Rome by a direct bus service that completes the journey in approximately three hours and a half and relies on numerous departures during the day.

By train

Pescara has four train stations with “Pescara Centrale” being the most significant one and the closest to the city center. Pescara Centrale railway station, located in the city centre, is one of the main railway stations on the Adriatic line and can be easily reached from the rest of Italy. By bus

Pescara can be reached by bus from the main cities of Italy (Rome, Milan, Bologna and Naples). The bus service is mainly managed by FlixBus (https://global.flixbus.com), MarinoBus (https://marinobus.it/en/) and Satam (https://www.satambus.it). Busses arrive at the Pescara bus terminal which is located in the city centre, close to the main Pescara Central railway station. From Rome the Prontobus (https://www.prontobusitalia.it/index.php?lang=it) and Dicarlobus (https://www.dicarlobus.com) bus lines are also active.

By car

Motorways A24 Roma-Teramo, A25 Torano-Pescara and A14 Bologna-Taranto connect Pescara to most Italian cities.


About the venue

The meeting will be held at Aurum, an historical building of Pescara. Aurum is in the southern area of Pescara, nestled within the D’Annunzio pine forest, near the seaside. The location is at 15 minutes walk from the Pescara University Campus (1.1 km). At one time, the building housed the distillery that produced the “Aurum” liqueur, currently it is a central location for expressing the identity and culture of Pescara and is an ideal place to host exhibitions, concerts, conferences, major national and international events.

Take bus route 21 which stops at Viale Luisa D’Annunzio

From Abruzzo Airport
