The XVI Annual Meeting of the Italian Chapter of the European Society of Biomechanics (ESB-ITA) will take place in Bologna, Italy, on June 20-21, 2027. Organized by the Biomechanics group of the University of Bologna, the meeting will bring together the Italian biomechanics community for two days of scientific exchange, discussion, and networking.
This will be the third time that Bologna hosts the ESB-ITA Annual Meeting, following the previous editions held in 2011 and 2019.
The 2027 meeting will comprise a Thematic Symposium entitled “Translational Biomechanics: Bridging Research and Clinical Practice”, together with the ESB-ITA General Meeting. The Thematic Symposium will provide an opportunity to explore how advances in biomechanics can be translated from fundamental and applied research into clinical practice, fostering dialogue between engineers, researchers, clinicians, and industry and highlighting the role of biomechanics in addressing real-world clinical challenges.
The General Meeting will showcase the latest developments in biomechanics in Italy, covering a broad range of topics and methodological approaches, from experimental and computational biomechanics to multiscale and translational research. Contributions spanning musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, cardiovascular and other emerging areas of biomechanics will provide a comprehensive overview of current research within the Italian biomechanics community.
The scientific program will include keynote lectures by prominent international scientists, oral and poster sessions, and dedicated opportunities for networking, mentoring, career development, and scientific exchange among early-career researchers, established scientists, clinicians, and professionals from industry. Outstanding scientific contributions will be recognized through awards for the best oral and poster presentations, together with the Best Master Thesis Award.
The 2027 edition will also offer a special opportunity for interaction with the broader biomedical engineering community. The ESB-ITA Annual Meeting will be organized in conjunction with GNB 2027, and on June 21 selected sessions of the two meetings will run in parallel, fostering exchange between the two scientific communities and promoting broader dissemination of research in biomechanics and biomedical engineering.
We look forward to welcoming you to Bologna for two days of biomechanics, scientific exchange, and collaboration!
